To process credit card payments, we use “Payments by Wave” which is powered by Stripe. Stripe securely stores credit card information. No credit card information is ever stored by Wave’s systems. Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor, and has in turn been certified as a PCI Level 1 Service Provider, the most stringent level of certification available. You can confirm their certification in Visa’s registry of service providers.
What is PCI?
The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a set of requirements designed to ensure that all companies that process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. The (PCI) Data Security Standards represents a common set of industry tools and measurements to help ensure the safe handling of sensitive information. We are responsible for the security of cardholder data and must be careful not to store certain types of data on our systems and ensure our third party service providers meet these PCI requirements.
While the payment service uses encryption to protect your sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only personnel who need the information to perform a specific task (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
